New Fable game coming soon from Forza Horizon series developer – Playground Games
Fable 4, or simply Fable – the official name of the game at the moment, has been announced by Microsoft after many years of waiting for fans. According to previous rumors, Microsoft’s Playground Games studio is in charge of developing the game, and will launch on Xbox Series X and PC at some point in the future.
Fable on Xbox Series X was officially announced by Microsoft at the Xbox Games Showcase event in July. Playground’s participation is also confirmed. Most likely the game will have an open world, a factor that has brought success to Sony’s PS4 with Horizon Zero Dawn and Spider-Man.
This is the first main story game in the Fable series since Fable 3 in 2010.
Here’s what we already know about Fable 4, including the release date, trailer, and what previous reports tell us about the game.
Fable 4 will be on Xbox Series X and PC – but only called Fable
Fable is being developed on the Xbox Series X platform and Windows 10 PC. This means it’s possible (yet official) that the game won’t make it to Xbox One, unlike some of the other new titles for Series X. If this decision is true, the studio will likely be. Better focus to take advantage of the hardware from the new console.
Official trailer of Fable 4
The official Fable trailer still doesn’t show much about the game, except that the setting will be set before Fable 3. It can be seen that the game does not have the Victorian capitalist atmosphere of Fable 3.
Official release date for Fable 4
The official launch date has not been announced, but it can be predicted that the game will be available at the end of 2021 at the earliest.
Fable 4 coming to Xbox Game Pass
As with all Microsoft first-party games, Xbox Game Pass subscribers on Xbox Series X and PC will be able to play Fable 4 at launch. The above information has been verified on Xbox Twitter.
Fable 4 will be an open world game
Back in January 2018, Eurogamer said a new Fable title was in development, through a source with contact with the project. That information has now been verified.
This news was announced in less than 2 years since Lionhead Studios – the developer of 3 previous Fable games – closed. At the same time, Eurogamer also knew exactly how the new developer of the series was Playground Games.
Eurogamer’s source also reports that a team of over 200 people will be involved in the development of Fable at Leamington Spa, although progress was still low at the time of launch.
How did Playground develop Fable? The report suggests that the latest title will feature RPG and open-world elements, as well as a focus on characters and plot. This information fits in well with the trailer, through the large world scene at the end of the 1-minute montage.
It also makes perfect sense for Playground to leverage the open-world design experience from Forza Horizon.
The gaming community is eagerly waiting for this game when the Fable series has been quiet for too long.
