In a surprising move, Evil Geniuses will make their first appearance at Counter-Strike: Global Offensive when signing with the NRG Esports roster.
It is expected that the team will compete at ESL One: New York under the name Evil Geniuses, not NRG Esports.
NRG Esports had a CSGO roster in early 2016, joining the sport with former Method members ahead of the MLG Columbus Major Last Chance Qualifier.
The organization undergoes many changes before employing the core force: Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte, Ethan “Ethan” Arnold, and Cvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov.
In 2019, the team added Tarik “tarik” Celik and Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz. These two members helped NRG reach the semi-finals of the StarLadder Berlin Major.
Evil Geniuses has never had a CSGO roster, but did participate in Counter-Strike in 2007. This CS roster includes Garett “Grt” Bambrough, Corey “tr1p” Dodd, and Griffin “shaGuar” Benger.
Later, Jordon “n0thing” Gilbert also joined and played for nearly four years until 2012.
Rumors of EG joining CSGO have been rumored many times, specifically, they were close to signing former iBuy-Power roster with Spencer “Hiko” Martin instead of Joshua “steel” Nissan in 2014.
The match-fixing scandal that occurred shortly after ended the deal.
Currently, it is unclear whether NRG Esports will plan to recruit a new CSGO squad or leave the sport altogether.
The current CSGO roster of NRG Esports is as follows:
- Peter “stanislaw“Jarguz
- Vincent”Brehze“Cayonte
- Cvetelin”CeRq“Dimitrov
- Ethan”Ethan” Arnold
- Tarik”tarik“Celik
- Chet”ImAPet“Singh (coach)
