The ELEAGUE Major: Boston kicks off this week, and it’s also the first national tournament of 2018.
Taking place from January 8 to 12, ELEAGUE will feature 24 of the world’s strongest teams, competing for 3 weeks to find the CS:GO champion.
With a total prize pool of $1 million USD, teams will have to go through one or two rounds of Swiss competition (based on the team’s current title) to determine who deserves to be in the next round. New Challengers Round (January 12-15 in Atlanta, Georgia)
Previously known as the qualifying round, New Challengers will pit 8 Minors champions against 8 Challengers in 5 rounds according to the Swiss system – randomly paired in a BO1 format, based on win/loss performance until one The team wins 3 matches or loses 3 matches. The bottom eight teams will be eliminated from the Major, while the top eight will advance to the New Legends round next week.
The teams predicted to win this group stage are FaZe, C9, G2, Na`Vi, EnVy, Liquid, Renegades, and Mouz. Space Soldiers and Misfits are the explosive underdogs of the Minor champions.
New Legends Round (January 19-22 in Atlanta, Georgia)
The 8 teams that made it through the Challengers round – which will receive the “Challenge” title at the next Major – will play against the 8 Legends teams using the second Swiss system. Like the previous round, the New Legends round only allowed the 8 strongest teams to advance to the next round, while the bottom 8 teams had to leave.
The Legend teams that are predicted to make it to the next round are SK, Gambit, Astralis, and Fnatic. The two Challenger teams that have a high chance of making it to the next round are FaZe and G2.
New Champions Round (January 26 to 28 in Boston, Massachusetts)
The 8 winners of the previous round will enter the final round of Major: New Champions. The teams that make it to the previous round will receive the “Legend” title for the next Major. They will play the knockout round in the best-of-3 format to determine who will lift the first Counter-Strike trophy of 2018.
To support the players and teams attending the Boston Major, you can purchase autographed stickers and team and player graffiti. 50% of the revenue will go directly to the players and the team.
