Dota Underlords Announces Game’s First Underlord

Valve is constantly sharing a series of information about the Big Update in Dota Underlords. This major update will take place after the game leaves beta and becomes official.

Days ago, we saw 12 new heroes and four new Alliances, as well as the Jail mechanic. Today, we will learn more about Underlord.

New Hero and Alliance

The game will feature 12 new heroes and four new Alliances from Big Update. They are as follows:

ALLIANCE:

• Healer: Increases healing for all allies
• Insect: The piece creates insects from the edge of the board, causing the opponent to miss
• Brute: Deals bonus damage and debuffs the damage to the target
• Champion: Champion gets all Alliance bonuses.

• Nyx Assassin (Insect/Hunter), Tier 1
• Lifestealer (Heartless/Brute), Tier 1
• Shadow Demon (Heartless/Demon), Tier 1
• Weaver (Insect/Hunter), Tier 2
• Magnus (Brute/Shaman), Tier 2
• Dazzle (Troll/Healer), Tier 2
• Legion Commander (Champion/Human), Tier 3
• Io (Primordial/Druid), Tier 3
• Broodmother (Insect/Warlock), Tier 4
• Bristleback (Brawny/Savage), Tier 4
• Sven (Human/Scaled/Knight), Ace Tier
• Faceless Void (Primordial/Assassin), Ace Tier

JAIL MECHANISM:

The Jail mechanic is Valve’s solution to balancing the growing hero pool and keeping the game fresh. Every 24-hour, 8-12 heroes will be put into the Jail and leave the hero pool.

This ensures that the amount of heroes does not go out of control. Too many heroes means players will be less likely to get the pieces they need. And constantly changing squads in Jail means that every day, the strategy in the game will be different.

UNDERLORD MECHANISM

Now let’s talk about the Underlords. Underlords are special troops that fight alongside heroes. They are skilled, using a resource called Hype (similar to mana). They are upgraded in each loot round, including advanced skills and talents to upgrade Underlord’s skill set.

The first Underlord shared was Hobgen. Hobgen’s theme is to burn with fire, this way Underlord creates more Hype and deals damage. AoE Explosion, attack speed buff is Hobgen’s skill set.

Valve promises to share more Underlords as the Big Update gets closer and closer.
