Knight is one of the dominant strategies in the mid game. Knight’s shield grants 75% magic resistance as well as 30 bonus armor for 3 seconds. This buff makes Knight very strong against all formations. With the ability to combine side combos like Dragon, Troll or Undead, they have a lot of potential late game.
Summary of Knight tactics:
The goal is to get (4) or (6) Knights to exploit the damage tolerance of these heroes to dominate mid-game, for a continuous winning streak. At the end of the game, you can combine with extra combos to give yourself enough damage and win.
Hero Knight:
Batrider: 1 gold, Troll, Knight
The only cheap knight and also the weakest. In general, you will have this hero in the starting strategy but sell this hero later to get other stronger pieces. Batrider belongs to the (4) Troll bonus, so keep this hero if you want to go that route.
Luna: 2 gold, Elf, Knight
The main damage in the early-mid game of the Knight squad but also has a lot of potential in the late game if you invest damage items in this hero. Unlike other hand-hit carries, Luna deals AoE damage. Of course, Luna’s Glaive helps you win the round overall, but keep in mind that it also helps multiple enemy pieces recover mana at the same time. Keeping a level 1 Luna with no items is a real burden on the team – try to upgrade the hero to increase Luna’s influence.
Chaos Knight: 2 gold, Demon, Knight
Demon Knight has strong stats. Buffalo Hero, with a useful stun and if the only Demon of the team – Chaos Knight deals very high DPS damage thanks to his passive Demon. An important piece to have a strong Knight formation to start.
Omniknight: 3 gold, Human, Knight
Omniknight has high armor, but low DPS. However, this hero’s strength lies in his ultimate – not only healing one of his pieces, but also dealing AoE damage to nearby enemy pieces. Combine this hero with another Human to activate (2) Human bonus (enemy silence).
Abaddon: 3 gold, Undead, Knight
A tank hero also has a low DPS. In the early-mid game, you want this to be the first piece your opponent hits first. Abaddon’s Ultimate plus the bonus Knight prolongs this hero’s lifespan quite a bit. The most important thing about Abaddon is the Undead bonus – we can get (2) Undead bonus easily to increase the damage of low DPS Knights in the early-mid game. You can combine Drow Ranger or Necrophos then.
Dragon Knight: 4 gold, Dragon-Human, Knight
The heart of the Dragon Knight lineup thanks to its Dragon species. Once there are three Dragons, Dragon Knight will turn into a dragon instantly – becoming one of the heroes with the strongest damage in the game. Keep this hero in the front (or sub) until you have three Dragons, and place the hero in the back so that DK has the most hand attack time. Upgrading the hero to 2-star is very important, because turning into 2-star deals AoE damage (not to mention the stats also increase significantly). 3-star is very strong, but very difficult to get, because Dragon combo is quite popular and many people will try to get Dragon Knight even though they did not intend to use the Knight squad at first.
For Knight to promote:
Early game:
You usually start with Batrider, but this hero alone is quite weak so be ready to substitute Batrider if you have better picks (2-star Batider with Knight bonus is still better than 1-pieces). other stars). Remember, you only need (2) Knights for early game combos.
Two important pieces that will help you win the first round are Chaos Knight and Luna. With the shield buff, your squad will be stronger, and CK with Luna will clear the opponent in the meantime. If you get Abaddon early, buying a Drow Ranger is also a good idea to get bonus armor reduction.
Mid-late game
Of course, continue to buy Knight. Decide if you want to stay at (4) Knight or head for (6) – both options are possible. Of course (6) will definitely be stronger, but it’s harder to get and (4) Knight gives your squad more flexibility.
Decide on the second combo you will choose. Trolls and Dragons should be the next target if you choose Knight, but other directions are fine too – Undead + Hunter, including Mage.
Don’t forget about late game control AoE heroes like Kunkka, Tidehunter, Medusa, etc because Knight has no pieces to help control the board!
Note, the Knight squad is quite expensive to upgrade. To succeed, you need to win continuously while saving gold in the middle of the game. Constantly rerolling the shop to upgrade will not work for the Knight.
Sample Knight lineups:
KNIGHT + TROLL
Previous: Omniknight, Chaos Knight, Abaddon, Dragon Knight, Disruptor
Behind: Batrider, Luna, Troll Warlord, Shadow Shaman, Witch Doctor
Combos: (6) Knight, (4) Troll, (2) Human, (2) Shaman, (1) Demon
(4) Troll bonus helps Knight a lot because it increases the hero’s DPS significantly. Take Luna as an example: with a few damage items plus the attack speed buff (4) Troll will make Luna one of the main damage dealing heroes of the game.
Keep the Dragon Knight in the front but drift to the sides. In this position, DK will take damage to transform faster, but not lose health too quickly.
This squad doesn’t have good control beyond the Witch Doctor. Get Kunkka/Tidehunter/Medusa/Disruptor as the 10th piece or trade in one or two low level Knights (except Batrider) to add early AoE disables to the squad.
KNIGHT + TROLL + WARLOCK
Previous: Batrider, Omniknight, Abaddon, Necrophos, Tidehunter
Behind: Luna, Shadow Fiend, Troll Warlord, Shadow Shaman, Witch Doctor
Combos: (4) Knight, (4) Troll, (3) Warlock, (2) Undead, (1) Demon
In this lineup you can choose (3) Warlock late game plus Troll. Life steal (lifesteal) is very strong when combined with a high damage DPS squad. The Troll already has a Warlock (Witch Doctor), so you only need two more Warlocks. Since there’s no Chaos Knight in this lineup, Shadow Fiend is the best DPS pick – the hero also benefits greatly from Troll’s attack speed buff due to its high arm damage. Necrophos is also strong due to hero creation (2) Undead bonus with Abaddon.
Like the lineup above, you might have to trade one or two Knights for AoE control pieces at level 8 or 9 instead of level 10.
Note: Instead of choosing Warlock and Shadow Fiend, you can go towards Dragon Knight and Chaos Knight. 2-star or 3-star DK with very strong Troll buff.
KNIGHT + DRAGON + MAGE
Previous: Chaos Knight, Omniknight, Ogre Magi, Kunkka
Behind: Luna, Dragon Knight, Puck, Viper, Lina
Combos: (4) Knight, (3) Dragon, (4) Human, (3) Mage
(3) Dragon bonus is the traditional way to make Knight strong late game. If you have a high level Puck, try the (3) Mage bonus – starting with full mana and low cooldown will help Puck use the ability many times in each round. [Hoặc, nếu Viper level cao, bạn có thể thử qua (3) Assassin + (3) Elf (nhờ Luna)]
In this example, we have two other Mage, Ogre (strong early game hero, buffs Chaos Knight, Dragon Knight or Luna) and Lina – although not considered the strongest Mage, but the 4th human in the team. (4) Human increases the silence of the team a lot. Silence the opponent’s AoE disables in front (Tidehunter, Kunkka, Disruptor, Medusa) can help you win.
Also, try getting the Dragon Knight to 3-star. Even if you don’t get 3-stars, you can always use 2 2-star Dragon Knights to increase your team’s DPS.
KNIGHT + UNDEAD + HUNTER
Previous: Chaos Knight, Omniknight, Abaddon, Medusa
Behind: Luna, Drow Ranger, Sniper, Necrophos, Lich
Combos: (4) Knight, (4) Undead, (3) Hunter
Knight with Abaddon plus Drow Ranger for (2) Undead bonus is a good and reliable formation at first. This way you can follow the direction of Hunter or Undead later.
In this example, we choose (3) Hunter and (4) Undead. Armor reduction increases DPS significantly, not only for Hunters but also for other units – most importantly Chaos Knight and Luna, especially when you bring them up to level 3.
Note: You can also apply the strategy (6) Hunter later, but it will be more difficult. The reason is because if you want to keep the (4) Knight bonus, you need to reach level 10 courier).
