LIFESTEREALER
Lifestealer is one of the new stars of the patch. When 7.23 was released, Lifestealer introduced a support style that helps you win games. However, after some adjustments, Lifestealer can no longer play as a support.
Skill sets have been reworked and their effects have changed slightly. Rage no longer grants attack speed but gains +15% movement speed. Feast is now a passive that increases attack speed. Infest has been reworked and now automatically controls minions it infests (as long as it’s not a hero), grants movement speed and health, and heals Lifestealer for 3/4/5% of maximum health per second during infest (instead of infested). heals when jumping out of a corpse).
Those are big changes and infest is what makes Lifestealer a useful support. Hero can stay in the core and make himself the 7th item.
Lifestealer’s “support” skill set has been nerfed recently, making the hero’s support role only applicable in certain games.
LONE DRUID
One bright star in this patch is the Lone Druid. This hero now appears a lot in pubs and professional games. That’s thanks to the changes and buffs that the father and son pair received in the recent patch.
It’s been quite a while since Lone Druid was considered a strong hero, but now it’s a bit “too strong”. Hero is having a win rate of about 54% this past week and a pick rate of 5%.
There are a few changes that make the win rate and pick increase. Bears are significantly buffed by 15 changes, most of them just buffs. Then the drop neutral items are very beneficial for Lone Druid because the hero has 12 item slots.
Spirit Bear’s attack range increased, armor changed from basic to hero, attack type changed from basic to hero, Demolish, Return, Entangle are all at level 1; HP reduced and increased by +75hp per hero level, Spirit Link is now passive, among other adjustments.
True Form reworked and now you gain 500/1000/1500 health on cast, 10/15/20 armor, change to melee with 225 attack range, 40s duration, and add Entangling Roots and Demolish.
LUNA
Luna was remade but not much changed.
Moon Glaives now works with critical strike, base stats increased. And Lunar Blessing changed from increasing allies’ stats to increasing attack and armor, then adding night vision to Luna.
Luna hasn’t been seen much in both pubs and pro games in the latest patch, so there’s a good chance this hero will be buffed. This buff won’t change the gameplay much but it can make Luna a useful support. Thanks to the initial base stat increase and the change in Lunar Blessing, the hero can apply pressure in the laning phase better.
LYCAN
Lycan now has the Scepter and skill set reworked, but nothing scary.
Howl now causes all enemies within 2000 AoE to reduce their armor and deal less base damage. Howl is also now cast around Lycan’s wolves.
Scepter now gives the hero a new spell called Wolf Bite. This spell turns allies into wolves, grants them the Shapeshift ability, grants both 30% lifesteal, and shares 30% lifesteal between two heroes if within 1200 range.
MARS
Mars gets a buff but again, doesn’t change much in the game.
God’s Rebuke Knockback now adds 40% slow. Bulwark can be toggled to lock Mars in one direction. Hero can now move, but is 20% slower when Bulwark is on, and 70% of projectiles in range will redirect to Mars instead of allies. Arena of Blood now destroys trees in the area.
Bulwark’s changes make the hero play more like a Roman soldier, using a shield to protect his teammates. Let’s wait and see how creative offlaners will use this move to win the game, as well as teamfight.
CLINKZ
Clinkz is back, including the old Death Pact. Death Pact replaces Strafe and allows Clinkz to absorb an enemy piece, skeleton, or neutral level 3/4/5/6. It gives the hero extra health and bonus armor debuff when attacking. If a hero dies while receiving a debuff, Clinkz takes +5 permanent damage and the Death Pact cooldown reverts back immediately.
Hero’s attack range is reduced by 25 units while Burning Army now deals 24/26/28% of hero damage instead of 80/100/120% of base damage.
This is considered a reasonable change. CLinkz can appear out of nowhere, use his ultimate and kill someone before they can react. Burning Army previously dealt too much damage so with this adjustment, it is considered more balanced.
OUTWORLD DEVOURER
Outworld Devourer adjustments caused the community to become disgruntled. People say OD is now a “junk tier” and that’s true. Last week, the hero had only 46-48% win rate and less than 5% pick rate.
Base attack duration increased, Arcane Orb damage adjusted (with higher max damage), no longer splashes, and no longer steals intelligence. Equilibrium has been replaced with Essence Flux, which passively grants you a 25% chance to restore maximum mana when cast.
Sanity’s Eclipsed is slightly changed. Instead of dealing damage based on intelligence difference, it now deals damage based on max mana difference and deals 150/225/300 base damage. It also adds a charge buff to increase your max mana by 30/40/50 per charge. Charges are also obtained when using arcane orb and astral imprisonment on the hero.
Overall, it seems that OD is buffed while some skills are nerfed. It is possible that the hero’s gameplay will change significantly, causing the initial win rate to decrease. As players gradually learn how to play new OD, the win rate can increase or continue to be a “junk hero” until the end of the patch.
RAZOR
Razor’s mechanics and skills have changed.
Unstable Current has been replaced with Storm Surge, a passive skill that grants you and your allies movement speed. Passive damage is now in the ultimate, Eye of the Storm.
The most important change is that Static Link makes Razor continue to attack Static Link objects. You cannot attack other objects and it happens while the character moves without interference. The suction speed and damage drain time are also reduced.
RIKI
It seems Valve still doesn’t know what it wants to do with Riki. Years ago, Riki’s ultimate made him invisible, but then they changed it to make the hero invisible at level 1. Now Cloak and Dagger are back in ultimate and Tricks of the Trade is available from level 1.
Starting armor, healing, and movement speed are buffed so that the hero doesn’t go overboard at level 1 like before. Agility has been nerfed quite strongly this time, from starting at 30 and gaining 2.5 per level, to starting at 18 and gaining 1.4 per level.
Smoke Screen’s ability to suck is also nerfed, no longer slows or reduces vision, and cooldown increased. Blink Strike now has two charges but the damage is reduced. Tricks of the Trade are available at level 1 and last 2 seconds.
Overall this is a good change. Hero becomes much more tanky at level 1 during laning. Stealth has never been a great escape because of the presence of dust and sentry. Tricks of the Trade and Blink Strike are always the best way to survive and escape. Now, Tricks of the Trade is the base move, reducing cooldown, and Blink Strike has two charges. This makes it easier for Riki to play in lane and teamfight.
DROW RANGER
Drow Ranger has been changed quite a lot.
Precision Aura is replaced with Multishot, a channeling move that unleashes 12 bows in 3 waves and deals damage, then slows with Frost Arrow, doubling your attack range. This means that the Drow Ranger can no longer push all waves by pressing E. Agility bonus is now available in ultimate and only affects nearby ranged heroes.
Frost Arrow can deal 5/10/15/20 damage. Marksmanship no longer instantly kills creeps, procs now have 40/50/60 bonus damage.
How to play Drow Ranger used to be solo jungling with his ultimate and pressing E every time he pushed lane. Now, it’s not ideal anymore and Valve seems to promote a more aggressive way of playing. Drow now has a more active move, Multishot, and the hero’s ultimate only affects nearby allies.
SHADOW FIEND
Not much has changed from Shadow Fiend. The main skill set remains the same but the ultimate, Requiem of Souls, has changed.
It no longer reduces attack damage, but causes troops to run away due to fear for 0.6 seconds per wave (max 2.2). This Fear does not occur when Requiem is active during death. Half radius reduced from 425 to 350.
Shadow Fiend is a bit weaker and isn’t seen much in the game, but the change to the ultimate makes the hero stronger in teamfight.
SVEN
Sven’s Warcry defense has changed and now has a new Aghanim’s Scepter.
Warcry now buffs allies within 700 range for 6/9/12/15 armor and 12/16/20/24 bonus damage. In addition, Sven also increases movement speed by 6/10/14/18.
Sven’s Scepter now adds +500 cast range to Storm Hammer and the ability to move with it. After hitting the target, Sven will automatically attack it.
Valve continues to experiment and change Warcry and is now back to the starting point.
VIPER
Viper’s Poison Attack is now back to how it was before. Attack range increases, reduces magic resistance, movement speed, deals dps and stacks up to 5 times with each recovery of its duration.
Nethertoxin’s cooldown increases, and damage increases the longer the target is in the area of effect. It no longer reduces magic resistance, and radius increased from 380 to 400.
WRAITH KING
Wraith King has not changed too much, just a few adjustments to make the skill set more balanced.
Skeleton now deals reduced damage, Vampiric Aura has no effect on creeps, lifesteal is reduced by 6% at a level, and it now adds bonus damage (half the value for skeletons).
