Some of the strongest Southeast Asian teams are participating in the $70,000 Huya World E-sports Legendary League. The tournament includes teams from China and Southeast Asia. In which, 5 teams were invited directly to the main event, and the tournament also had 7 slots from the regional qualifiers: three for China, four for Southeast Asia.
Unfortunately, the tournament is now entangled in allegations of match-fixing, leading to the Malaysian team being disqualified and permanently banned from attending any events organized by Huya Network.
RISE Esports used to be one of four teams to qualify for the main event through the Southeast Asian qualifiers. However, after the first matches of the group stage, the tournament organizer announced on Weibo that the RISE team’s matches were in doubt. After investigating the players’ behavior, Huya believes that they intentionally played passively.
“According to our investigation, we concluded that RISE Esports had passive competition in many matches, and to ensure the fairness and competitiveness of the game, the event organizer disqualified RISE Esports from the tournament and will permanently ban them from all of our future events. Big thanks to all the fans for supporting Huya World E-sports Legendary League. Let’s protect the integrity of esports together.”
