The strongest Southeast Asian team
Southeast Asia is currently facing a crisis as we really lack a strong enough team to enter the top 6 after TI8. Then, Fnatic rose to prominence in the region and continued to show up at majors, with the most notable achievement being 3rd place at the last Dream League Major.
The current problem of Southeast Asia is quite obvious: veteran players like Mushi are slowly falling into shape, while TNC has lost up and down after last year’s drama. We really lack teams strong enough to compete in the Majors. Tigers seemed to be a promising name after the first Major of the season. Unfortunately, the team gradually declined even after bringing in Dendi and Mushi (both of whom have now left the organization).
Meanwhile, Mineski played well but was not ‘qualified’ to compete at the Major. Well, at least the boys were constantly present at the Major. So, the question is, will Southeast Asia have enough strong teams to attend TI9? More precisely, are we just going to TI9 ‘as a scene’? In previous TIs, the Southeast Asian representative only won the top 9 or below.
Iceiceice’s Journey
Iceiceice is not a strange name in the professional arena. This player attended every TI, except TI7. Despite being in Dota 2 for nearly a decade, Iceiceice has never been able to hold an Aegis shield.
But did you know his career as a gamer goes deeper than that? Iceiceice used to play Starcraft when the game was first released, as well as Dota1 since 2005. Then he switched to Dota 2 in 2011 when the new game came out. That was also the year that he won the right to attend TI1.
Iceiceice is always the focus of attention at tournaments. Back in the TI8 days, he competed with his former teammate Mushi, the two remain close friends to this day. After a disappointing performance at TI8, iceiceice and Jabz switched to Fnatic. Meanwhile, Mushi recruits Febby and kpii to form a new Mineski team. But Mineski did not reap the rewards. As a result, only 2 months later, Mushi also left the organization.
Iceiceice talking about Fnatic
During a recent stream, iceiceice was asked if she liked her current team (Fnatic). And he replied that this is the best team he has ever had. He likes every member and always feels like he doesn’t need to rest as much as other teams. This is great news coming from iceiceice.
Fnatic currently has prominent members like Abed and Dj – players who have been playing for this organization for a long time. And iceiceice and Jabz were acquired after TI8 to replace EternalEnvy and UNIVERSE. In addition, the team also recruited player from Korea MP, former member of MVP.Phoenix and Secret. This multinational lineup holds a lot of promise, with members sticking together.
Cheers to Fnatic!
With the Paris Major, Fnatic will almost certainly get a direct invite to TI9 because the team currently ranked 5th on the DPC rankings – the team with the closest score compared to the teams that already have tickets to attend is VP, Secret, VG and EG. When Fnatic won a direct invite, each Dota 2 region now has a representative for TI9.
Do you think it’s time for iceiceice and her teammates to bring back the first Aegis shield for themselves and Southeast Asia? Looking back, iceiceice is also 28 years old and needs to take care of her family. Let him end his career on a good note! But if Fnatic can’t even win TI9, we hope this Fnatic roster will continue to stick together even stronger.
