Valve just announced the Dota Plus Summer update. Over the past few weeks, the community has become increasingly frustrated with Dota Plus’ lack of updates and support, so a new patch is essential.

In this update, summer terrain has been added to Dota Plus along with improved existing features, along with a number of other new features. Here is Valve’s full announcement:
Today’s patch will be a summer update for Dota Plus with the goal of improving existing features and applying some new things for Dota Plus users.
In addition to the changes in the Dota Plus Guide – including improved build, lane, and ability guides – we also added Summer Terrain, support for Turbo Mode, and added dozens of new Plus Hero Challenges.
Some of the new features in Plus include the ability to follow your friends’ teams directly in the game without delay, allowing you to get in and out of the game at any time. We also added the Plus Prediction Charm to reward the Shard if the correct prediction wins.
All improvements – including new features – can be viewed in full in this changelog. Here are the notable updates:
- Added Summer Terrain terrain
- Added in-game prediction charm, rewarding you with shards for consecutive correct predictions
- Added a new feature that allows Plus members to watch their friends’ matches live
- Add dozens of new Hero Quests
- Added global Hero Trends page (hero trends in use)
This is a necessary update, as the Dota 2 community has been very upset with Dota Plus over the past few weeks. Many posts appear daily on the Dota 2 subreddit with threats to stop using the service if Valve doesn’t improve it.
