Don’t Starve Together is the multiplayer version of the addictive survival game Don’t Starve. The game allows you to play with your friends using different characters to survive in The Constant. Each character has a different set of skills, strengths, and weaknesses.
Because of this difference, many players often prefer one character over another. But if you only use one character when playing with friends, you won’t know who is the strongest.
Below is a ranking of the characters’ strength in Don’t Starve Together, ranked from weakest to strongest!
16. WILSON
When it comes to characters, Wilson is seen as the “default”. He is the original character in Don’t Starve. While there’s nothing wrong with choosing Wilson, he’s hardly the strongest character. This character has no special skills, other than growing a beard to keep warm in the winter. Wilson is suitable for new players, other than that it is not worth playing.
15. WES
There are some characters that are only really good for… increasing the difficulty. Wes is among them. If you want a difficult character to play, then Wes is a great choice. Otherwise… just ignore Wes.
Wes deals less damage and gets hungry faster than any other character. His special skill is to create bubbles that distract enemies and deal a little damage when the bubbles explode. But overall, Wes was weak and hard to survive.
14. MAXWELL
Maxwell was originally the villain in Don’t Starve before being locked up in The Constant. While Maxwell can be a very funny character to play due to his ability to create Shadow Puppets with the Codex Umbra, not to mention his extremely manageable sanity, Maxwell is not as strong as the other characters.
13. WX-78
WX-78 is special because WX-78 isn’t human, which really affects how you play. Robots can eat gear to upgrade stats, but gear is not always easy to find, and can be better used for other constructions, like Ice Box for example. And if WX-78 walks in the rain, this character will lose health until he finds shelter.
12. WEBBER
Webber is the boy who lived inside the spider that tried to eat him. Now, he befriends the spiders that inhabit The Constant. But since you are a spider, creatures like pigs will see you as an enemy, making it difficult for you sometimes to get somewhere.
11. WOLFGANG
Wolfgang is an extremely strong character – as long as you don’t starve him. The more full (requires more food than other characters), the more damage Wolfgang deals. But when hungry, this character will also weaken.
Not to mention, Wolfgang is also afraid of the dark. When around monsters, his sanity will drop faster than others. Due to the relatively rare food, Wolfgang can be a challenge, but still worth playing.
10. WICKERBOTTOM
Wickerbottom is a very strong character because she can create things without a Science Machine and can create books. While these books take a lot of sanity, reading them will help you understand more about many aspects of the game, like farming.
9. WILLOW
Willow starts the game with a teddy bear and a lighter. This lighter generates fire which increases her sanity slowly. And if he wants to put out the fire, Wilson never has to take damage from the fire.
But when Wilson’s sanity is low, she will randomly light a fire in front of her. They don’t hurt her, but can create some serious problems, depending on where she’s standing.
8. WORMWOOD
Wormwood is a DLC character that originated in Hamlet before being added to Don’t Starve Together. This special character can plant seeds without farming, and increases sanity when farming. Wormwood can also use manure to heal himself.
7. WURT
Wurt is a DLC character and a young Merm. This character can craft a Merm house, marsh turf, and summon a Merm King.
Unlike non-human characters like Wortox, Wurt is not attacked by creatures like Bunnymen. One of Wurt’s big disadvantages is that she’s vegetarian, but Wurt can eat durian without any side effects.
6. WORTOX
Wortox is a DLC character who worked with Krampus until his life took a major turn. Wortox is special because he mainly eats Souls, items thrown by other players or creatures after death. Wortox can eat food but only heals half of its health. Wortox can also use Soul for short range teleportation and doesn’t lose much sanity when near monsters.
5. WINONA
Before appearing in The Constant, Winona was a worker at the Voxola factory and she was trying in vain to find her brother Charlie. That’s right, that’s Charlie. As a factory worker, Winona is skilled at creating special machines. As Charlie’s older sister, she was able to enter the dark once without getting hurt.
4. WARLY
Before coming to The Constant, Warly was a chef. In The Constant, the new Warly will appear with a Portable Crockpot and some recipes. This is handy because Warly won’t eat anything uncooked. But in return, the player does not need to create a new crockpot and Warly can take it with him.
3. WIGFRID
Wigfrid was an actor before coming to The Constant. Wigfrid has the ability to craft a Battle Helm (battle helmet) and deal a lot of damage. The biggest minus of this character is that she refuses to eat anything that doesn’t have meat inside, but that’s not too important either.
2. WOODIE
Woodie begins in The Constant with a special ax named Lucy. Lucy constantly talks to Woodie and encourages him to cut down trees. This is not a bad thing. Lucy can cut trees faster than a normal ax and never fail. On the night of a full moon or after eating a Totem, Woodie can transform into one of three different creatures.
1. WENDY
If you’ve played Don’t Starve Together but never tried Wendy, you might find it confusing to say she’s the best character. She’s not as strong as some of the other characters, so it’s quite difficult to play sometimes. So what makes Wendy so good? That was because she was able to bring along her deceased twin sister, Abigail.
Abigail is a ghost that Wendy can summon after placing down Abigail’s Flower, which she brought with her when she entered The Constant, and has a dead creature beside her. Abigail can deal dozens of damage and protect Wendy from enemies. This makes up for Wendy’s not being as strong as the other characters and thus helps her to be among the best characters in the game.
