Destiny 2 PC gamers can now link their Battle.net accounts to Steam to transfer accounts. This process will officially take place on October 1, but Bunie encourages players to link accounts now. After October 1, Destiny 2 will no longer be available on Battle.net. Linking a Steam account is the only way to play Destiny 2 on PC. The process is pretty easy and seamless, but there are a few things you need to keep in mind.
Destiny 2 PC players need to go to Bungie.net and link an existing Battle.net and Steam account. Bungie.net will store all account information on the website, updating them until October 1st. After that deadline, Bungie.net will move all account information to the new Steam account.
Finally, before going into the details, you need to confirm what will be transferred. All player characters, along with their entire inventory and gameplay, will switch over. That means everything in the game. Next are the expansions that you own. These include current content up to the Forsaken Annual Pass. And third, all of the player’s Silver will move to Steam. It’s pretty much everything associated with your account.
As a reminder, the transfer won’t be complete until October 1st. Players can link their Battle.net and Steam accounts now and continue playing normally until October 1st.
LOG IN TO BUNGIE.NET
Bungie has opened an official website for PC players to transfer funds from Battle.net to Steam. After entering the website, click on the “Get Started” button. It will get players to sign in through Bungie.net with their Destiny 2 account on PC, Xbox or PlayStation. This happens even if the player has linked his Bungie.net account to Battle.net.
After logging in, users will receive a message telling you to link your Blizzard account before continuing. This message appears whether you have linked your Battle.net account or not. At this point, go to the “Accounts & Linking” section. Here, players can see if they have linked their Battle.net account to Bungie.net.
BATTLE.NET LINK
From your Bungie.net account settings, go to “Accounts & Linking”. Most users have linked Battle.net, since the vast majority of people who log into Bungie.net use a Battle.net account. If not, click on the “Link” next to the Battle.net Authenticated Account section. A screen will appear asking to log in to your Blizzard account.
Note, if you have 2-factor security enabled on your Battle.net account, you will need to accept the login from your phone. 2-factor security on the phone app will show a message after the player logs in. The message asks you to open the Blizzard authenticator app and press “Approve” to confirm your login. Players will then see their Battle.net account linked to their Bungie.net account.
STEAM LINKS
The Steam link on Bungie.net is slightly different from the Battle.net link. From Bungie.net’s Authenticated Accounts section, users will see a list of Steam, along with a “Link” button. Click the Link button to bring up, “Battle.net” Destiny accounts will be transferred to Steam for Shadowkeep launch. Please visit Bungie.net/PCMove to link a Steam account.” Clicking on the “Learn More” button will take the user to this website.
You will be taken back to the original Bungie.net page, and then logged into your account. Click the “Get Started” button again. Users are then redirected to “Agree to Emails,” which lets Bungie update everything about the status of Destiny 2 on PC via email. After clicking the tick “I agree to receive customer service and system notifications by email”, then click “Continue”.
Destiny 2 gamers can now view account information associated with Battle.net. In the Character selection section, all three player characters, including class, race, sex and power level will be displayed. In the Game Content section, all expansions that you have purchased will be displayed. And finally, in the Ververse section, the player’s Silver will show up. Note, this is not the final list. It will be fully updated until October 1st. Click Continue when ready. This information will be retained.
Next, Bungie.net users will have to agree to Transfer Aggreement in order for Bungie to transfer all user information from Battle.net to Steam. Scroll to the bottom and click “I Agree”.
The final step is to link Steam to your Bungie.net account. Click “Steam Link”. A warning will appear stating that everything moves on to the final step and that it is only linked to a Steam account that you have complete control over. There is no way to go back to the transfer process once October 1 has passed. There is no way to change from one Steam account to another after October 1st. However, you can disable linking your Steam account and link another account before October 1st. Click “Continue” once done. ready.
Note to some users, after clicking Contiue, an error message appears “500: Internal Server Error.”. There is no solution at the moment. This is Bungie’s fault. Try waiting 30 minutes and logging in again.
If Steam login appears, continue. You can sign in to your Steam account with your username and password. If your Steam account has 2-factor security, you’ll receive a 5-character code to enter. Once the import is done, the process is complete. Message “I’m Done!” will appear.
If the user returns to the main page on Bungie.net, the message “My Transfer Details” will appear. It will update players’ Destiny 2 information day by day, until October 1st.
Bungie also confirmed that Destiny 2 PC players can pre-order Shadowkeep or the Digital Deluxe Edition of Shadowkeep on Steam if they wish. The expansion will link itself to Destiny 2 when the transfer is complete on October 1.
