Despite mixed praise, Wonder Woman kicks off season 3

Wonder Woman 1984 was officially released to the global audience for nearly half a month, although it received mixed praise and criticism, it did not affect the production plan for part 3 of the film. Recently Warner Bros. announced the company is producing Wonder Woman 3 with the participation of Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins, Jenkins will continue to direct and write the film.​

This announcement from Warner Bros. given immediately after Wonder Woman 1984 premiered on HBO Max and certain movie theaters around Christmas. Although many people decided to watch Wonder Woman 1984 at home instead of in theaters, the film still managed to garner an amazing box office. DC’s blockbuster grossed $16.7 million from 2,100 North American theaters, which is also the film’s best opening weekend performance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Warner Bros. also said that nearly half of HBO Max subscribers watched the movie last Friday (December 25). Launched in May of this year, HBO Max currently has 12.6 million users. That’s enough to see Wonder Woman 1984’s appeal to a global audience.​
