Virtus.pro has just announced that it has the signature of the AVANGAR lineup.
The announcement marks a new era for Virtus.pro as the organization says goodbye to the Polish CS team after almost 6 years. Six years ago, the organization recruited AGAIN, now only Snax is the only member of that squad.
After months of appearing and dropping out of the top 20, AVANGAR jumped in the world rankings in September when it finished second in the StarLadder Major. They defeated Liquid, Vitality and Renegades before losing outright to Astralis in the finals.
This impressive journey was followed by the BLAST Pro Series Moscow championship. But the team didn’t find much success after that, failing to make it to the playoffs at most of the major events: StarSeries i-League Season 8 and ECS Season 8 Finals.
“This is an exciting moment for all of us,” said team captain Dzhami “Jame” Ali. “We are excited to be a part of one of the biggest esports brands in the world and will do our best to bring VP back to the top of CS. On behalf of the team, I would like to thank the AVANGAR manager for trusting us, we wouldn’t have gotten here without their support.”
This will be AdreN’s second time playing for Virtus.pro after leaving the original CSGO roster, also from the CIS region. Privacy issues caused him to leave the team in June 2013, before he joined the Astana Dragons in the summer of the same year.
This AVANGAR team will represent Virtus.pro in the group stage of EPICENTER 2019. The team will face the ESL Pro League champions in the first match in Group B, which includes both Evil Geniuses and fellow CIS team FaZe.
Virtus.pro’s new lineup is as follows:
Dzhami “James” Ali
Alexey “qikert” Golubev
Timur “busters” Tulepov
Sanjar “SANJI” Kuliev
Dauren “AdreN” Kystaubayev
Dastan “dastan” Akbayev (coach)
