During its nearly eight-year history of operation, the number of players Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is currently at an all-time high. According to SteamDB, more than 888,000 people are playing Valve and the number above shows no sign of stopping.
This increase coincides with another record of Steam with nearly 19 million concurrent users – the platform’s highest number to date. However, the number of players CS:GO has been on a steady upward trend since last July, especially since the launch of the Shattered Web Campaign in November.
CS:GO became a free-to-play game in December 2018, but after the initial spike, the number of concurrent players dwindled in the months that followed. It wasn’t until next summer that player numbers started to increase again after the StarLadder Berlin 2019 tournament and the release of Shattered Web.
CS:GO is having 895,855 players logged in – an all-time high but not yet peaked. At around 14:10 GMT last Saturday, the number of players crossed the 876,000 mark.
CS:GO’s latest update has brought tweaks to some of the title’s most iconic maps, with the aim of getting some players back and experiencing their old haunts.
