Even if you have a lot of money, getting a shotgun can sometimes be more effective than M4 when you defend at close range. Information about each shotgun in CS: GO :
Nova ($1,200):
Strength: Cheapest. Has the highest accuracy because of the spread – low spread. Therefore, it is more advantageous than other shotguns at mid-range. Nova takes 30% less damage for every 500 units of distance.
Weakness: It has the lowest armor penetration among shotguns. Buy only when you know the opposing team doesn’t have armor and keep it at close-mid range.

Mag-7 (Swag-7 =)), $1,800 ):
Can only be purchased on CT side, this gun is my favorite when holding Cobblestone B (drop or B long close) and B Mirage (Van position to watch Apartment), Inferno A (Apartment).
Strength: High damage and armor penetration. It’s entirely possible to 1 hit/kill at close range. Reload the entire crew at once, instead of one by one like other shotguns.
Weakness: This gun should be close to shooting, because at mid-range, it’s like scratching the opponent’s itch. The disadvantage of this gun is that it has little ammunition (5 rounds), and the rate of fire is low, so pay attention to each bullet before firing instead of panic. If you are in a medium range (500 units or more), you should change to green.

- Mag-7 has a range limit (ammo will disappear if fired too far). For every 500 units of distance, damage is reduced by 65%.
- Armor penetration is 75%
Mag-7 Jump shot quite accurate, especially, effective at close range when holding Mirage B (wait for the enemy to go through the first window and then jump) or Dust 2 bin (boost to short).
Saw-off ($1,200):
I can only buy T side, this gun I use less, because shotgun is usually used for defense rather than attack, so it is not a priority choice compared to other guns. If used, usually to block rotation from the other team.
Strength: Cheap, has the highest damage, high armor penetration.
Weakness: highest spread and very low range. If you meet a mid-range opponent, the probability of death is very high.

- Saw-off has a range limit of 750 units (ammo will disappear if fired further). For every 500 units of distance, damage is reduced by 65%.
- Armor penetration is 75%
- Saw-off is very accurate when on the ladder (ladder).

Weakness: The most expensive in the shotgun line, the lowest damage compared to the other 3, and usually takes 2 rounds to finish a kill.

- Each bullet deals up to 20 damage, the maximum total damage is 120 damage per shot.
- XM1014 has no distance limit. For every 500 units of distance, damage is reduced by 30%.
- Armor penetration is 80% (highest in shotgun line)
- High rate of fire, if you do not believe in your ability to aim, use this gun.
When to buy shotgun?
Usually buy CT sideas this is a Defensive gun (gunner) and not a rush gun, mainly to catch the enemy when they negligently do not check positions at close range.
