According to many sources close to the team, the European CSGO team, FaZe Clan, is in the final stages of acquiring Marcelo “coldzera” David from Immortals. Expect the transfer to be complete so the team can play with him at ESL One: New York this week.
Coldzera will officially replace one of the two positions left by Filip “NEO” Kubski and Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovács in the starting lineup. The other person being tested by FaZe is Helvijs “broky” Saukants, a rather strange name from Latvia.
GuardiaN had previously announced that it would be replacing Danylo “Zeus” Teslenko from the old Natus Vincere team.
The coldzera transfer marks the first time FaZe Clan has paid a transfer fee in CSGO since the acquisition of GuardiaN in the second half of 2017.
Since then, the team has only used free and loan players, including two Major champions, Filip “neo” Kubski and Dauren “AdreN” Kystaubayev.
FaZe Clan retained their spot at the StarLadder Berlin Major with a 1-3 in the New Legend round. The result earns them a spot in the New Challenger at the next Major, scheduled for May 2020.
Recent team results include exiting from the group stage at ESL One Cologne 2019 and reaching the quarterfinals of the ESL Pro League Season 9 Finals.
A two-time Major CSGO champion, coldzera was named the best player in the world by HLTV in 2016 and 2017. The 24-year-old was a star in Luminosity/SK Gaming’s core roster when they dominated CS, but gradually fell behind after switching to MIBR.
In July 2019, he made himself a substitute and MIBR decided to use coach Wilton “zews” Prado at the StarLader Berlin Major. Coldzera has not played for an official tournament since ESL One: Cologne 2019 from the beginning of July.
If this move is complete, FaZe Clan’s new CSGO roster will look like this:
- Nikola ‘NiKo’ Kovacs
- Håvard ‘rain’ Nygaard
- Olof ‘olofmeister’ Kajbjer
- Helvijs ‘broky’ Saukants
- Marcelo ‘coldzera’ David
