Evil Geniuses needed just four maps to beat Astralis in the 2019 ESL One New York finals and claim their first major title in the team’s history.

All the North American boys needed was just a new environment to blow up at the big events. After many stops in the semi-finals and only once in the final, the former NRG members (now transferred to EG) finally have their first big title. More specifically, they have defeated the world No. 2 Astralis – the team has just won the Major.

Evil Geniuses completely outplayed Astralis for most of the series – only to lose the Train map due to psychosis. They reminded everyone of the strength and potential of their squad. This is no longer a two-horse race between Liquid and Astralis.

Evil Geniuses roamed right at Astralis’ first map pick, Inferno. They forced gla1ve to use the first timeout after only 5 rounds into the game. After recapturing the rhythm, Astralis also broke the opponent’s winning streak, but the North American team quickly bounced back, playing almost perfectly on the CT-side to take a 13-2 lead.

The situation got worse for Astralis when they lost the second pistol round.
