A few weeks ago, Square Enix revealed some concept photos of Final Fantasy 7 Remake during the 30th Annual Final Fantasy Exhibition “Farewell Stories” at the Mori Art Gallery in Roppongi Hills, Tokyo. Those in attendance will get a first look at the photos, but they’ll also get to meet director Tetsuya Nomura firsthand. He released some pictures to confirm that the main character of the game Cloud Strife will have the same design as the character in the original FF7.
Although no images have been revealed because this is a closed event, according to developer Naoki Hamaguchi, this design in Final Fantasy 7 was “green lighted” by director Tetsuya Nomura. Tetsuya has stated that this is “the most similar version of Cloud’s original design except to date.”
During the 30th exhibition, Nomura and Hamaguchi explained the reasons for these changes. They said: “Cloud looks like that, but he is actually a ‘weird’ guy. I believe those who have played the original version will understand what I mean by ‘weird’.” From what they say, there’s a good chance we’ll see Cloud more goofy and playful in Final Fantasy 7 Remake than the super serious version we’ve seen in the previously published photos.
With this information, we will probably have to wait longer until Square Enix shares photos of the new Cloud Strife character with the public, when news about the recent Final Fantasy 7 Remake is extremely rare. Hopefully, the company will announce more information, and update more on the development progress of this game.
