Any games with NFT elements are not allowed on Steam.
In the growing trend of NFT games, Valve decided to come up with a policy that took many people by surprise. That is to ban all games on the Steam platform. This is what Valve has just added to the game release policy on Steam.
Steam’s rules state that any games that are built on blockchain technology, have a publishing element, or allow crypto exchanges or NFTs are not supported on Steam. Some NFT games planned for release on Steam like Age of Rust or Nine Chronicles will have their licenses revoked.
Basically, NFT is an acronym for “Non-fungible token” (Non-fungible token). In a nutshell, it is a unique token. NFT will represent some digitized content, be it music, movie, literary work, video game, a signature or even just a slogan. To build uniqueness and impossibility of any kind, NFT operates on cutting-edge blockchain technology.
As mentioned above, the NFT game will include non-fungible Tokens. Along with that is an attached crypto system. For example, Axie Infinity will have the support of 2 tokens, AXS and SLP. With NFT games, players can buy, sell, exchange items, virtual currency through the game’s market system or virtual currency exchanges.
One side note is that while Steam forbids it, the Epic Games Store is very welcoming to NFT game developers. Epic ready-made welcome and enthusiastic support for NFT titles (qualified) to appear on their distribution platform.
