As everyone predicted, BlizzCon 2020 is cancelled. Blizzard has just officially reported, confirming this annual event will not take place due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The company has planned to hold an online “bringing in the BlizzCon spirit” early next year, but details have yet to be announced.
Blizzard wants to host a virtual (digital) BlizzCon “as soon as possible,” said event director Saralyn Smith. “But due to the move to the new format and many other factors involved, it will most likely fall early next year. BlizzCon is also the stage for the major esports events of Blizzard titles every year, so we were looking for an alternative to support the top-notch arena that often occurs during the event.”
BlizzCon usually makes big announcements about its games at events, and this year was originally expected to be more informative about Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 release dates – plus updates on other titles. .
However, it looks like we have to wait until early 2021 for these announcements.

Annual events like E3 or Gamescome have also been canceled or moved online, and some big names are still on schedule. PAX West is still happening, according to the organizers, but it seems unlikely.
