Black Ops 4’s Battle Royale has been in development since last year

The appearance of the Battle Royale mode in Black Ops 4 does not surprise many people when the Battle Royale genre has been quite successful in the past year. However, this mode is not made through speakers to keep up with the times. It looks like Treyarch has been developing this Blackout mode – conceptually at least – since the beginning of last year. Since then, the studio has had a lot of time to refine its products.

Black Ops 4, which launches this October 12, will feature an important transformation in the Call of Duty series in terms of the game’s main content. The game will no longer have a single-player campaign, as the team focuses on multiplayer, Zombies, story missions for each Specialist in multiplayer, and finally Blackout – the game’s first Battle Royale mode.

According to Treyarch studio head Dan Bunting, the idea of ​​Blackout began when many members of the team started playing Battle Royale games early last year. After quickly realizing these games were “storming the market”, the idea of ​​​​Blackout gradually boiled.

However, with the limited information we have about Blackout, it looks like it will be different from other Battle Royale games currently on the market, as well as the traditional Call of Duty experience. Unlike the usual Call of Duty multiplayer, vehicles will play an important role, allowing players to move around the map by land, air and sea. And unlike other Battle Royale games, the number of players per game can be less than 100.

The news that Blackout mode has been in development for a long time makes those who are concerned about the quality of the game feel reassured. Time will tell if ditching the single-player campaign and replacing it with Blackout really pays off.
