The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion trailer has surpassed 100,000 dislikes on YouTube, becoming the company’s most criticized video.
Two weeks ago, Nintendo’s official YouTube channel announced the “Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack” trailer, which is a trailer for the new online services that the company will bring to gamers.
More specifically, Nintendo will give Switch users the ability to play classic Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis titles on their devices.
Although the news that classic Nintendo games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Mario Kart 64 steps into the Switch were received with great enthusiasm, the high price tag has angered many fans.
To be able to play these classic games, Nintendo requires Switch users to pay 50 USD / 1 year (more than 1 million VND). This angered many more when Nintendo also sued the old game emulator RomUniverse, making it even harder to access old games.
Just 16 days after the Nintendo trailer was posted, the number of Dislikes has reached 119 thousand, compared to 17 thousand likes. With this number, “Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack” has become the most hated video of the company, surpassing the video “Nintendo 3DS – Metroid Prime: Federation Force E3 2015 Trailer”.
Besides the price, Nintendo players also expressed concern about the quality of old games being brought to the new system.
For example, some users noticed that the Switch version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time appeared to suffer from a graphical downgrade, even though the game was running on superior hardware.
Unfortunately, until Nintendo addresses these concerns, it looks like many will continue to express their outrage with the YouTube trailer.
Discounts can certainly solve the majority of player complaints, but what players really want is to make sure they’re getting good value for money on a Nintendo Switch.
