The team found 18 double-sided pieces and a dice that was shaped like a long bar instead of a cube like today’s dice. The game was found in an early Iron Age tomb in Ytre Fosse, Western Norway. This board game may be inspired by the Roman game Ludus latrunculorum, and serves as a precursor to Hnefatafl – a famous Viking game.
