It is undeniable that gamers are now looking forward to the experience Diablo 2: Resurrected, however this has inadvertently created an opportunity for phishing sites to take advantage of. Currently, there are many fake alpha versions of the game on the internet, making Blizzard must personally post a warning to the player.
Blizzard Community Development Lead Adam Fletcher said that there are many sites now blatantly claiming that they have the key to one or both of the alpha tests. Diablo 2: Resurrected. Some other sites say they will give it away as part of a contest or giveaway, but there is no such contest.
Fletcher also denounced the subreddit Diablo 2: Resurrected abets this scam. The subreddit admin posted false information about such a fraudulent giveaway, as soon as Fletcher warned other players he was banned from the platform. Currently the only way to participate in either alpha test of the game is to sign up on diablo2.blizzard.com instead of any other site out there, even though it seems very reliable.
As a remake of the classic game about the demon lord, Diablo 2: Resurrected will release two alpha versions to get players’ opinions on the balance issue in the game. Accordingly, the single-player version will be released first. Through this, Blizzard also hopes to attract fans to interact and test the level of public interest in this game.
