Apex Legends Season 2 brings new changes, but many gamers are not satisfied with the current meta camp.
Camp is a familiar element in many battle royale games in particular, and shooting in general. We always have gamers who prefer to play passively or are not skilled enough to play head-to-head.
However, the Apex Legends system encourages it and the Apex community is quite angry.
The point distribution system needs to be changed
This meta comes from how the points (RP – Rank Points) are distributed. Obviously, in rank, teams are trying to get high in the rankings.
That inadvertently punishes active play, leading to camp being the best bet. When looking at how RP points are divided, the number of RP points gained from killing kills is nothing compared to the high rank in the game – which makes gamers play more passively.
Some other factors that encourage selfishness such as taking lives increase RP points, while refusing to revive teammates (kill the opponent and respawn later).
Wattson plays defense
With Wattson present, the latest Legend doesn’t really help much. Called “Static Defender”, her skill set specializes in defense.
Tactical Ability creates a grid to help players camp, and Wattson’s Ultimate destroys any incoming projectiles and automatically heals the player.
Fix meta camp
Redditor Brokeng3ars said: “Currently, you can only kill 20 people in a game, revive teammates more than twice, deal 4k damage, and when ranked 5 have less RP points than 4th team only 2 kills and 300 damage.” This makes players not want to play actively.
Instead of complaining about the current meta camp, Brokeng3ars offers a few ideas to improve the game:
- +1RP per match for squad when you successfully revive someone. Limited to 1RP per game regardless of the number of respawns. Limits it to only ‘falling down’ by enemy damage.
- +RP for life support.
- +1RP for every 1,000 damage dealt, up to 2 or 3 points. Sniper deals less damage.
- +RP kills by rank. Keep max kills at 5.
- Can add RP limit and number of lives for each rank
Respawn Entertainment was not immediately available for comment, but given the uproar on forums and social media, it’s clear the development team is aware of the situation.
So how will Respawn respond or intend to change the system, let’s wait and see.
