Apex Legends is currently the hottest Battle Royale game on the planet, and Apex did it in less than 3 weeks – so every technical and gameplay nook and cranny is still being explored and explored by players.
The training when you first enter the game is only enough to know the most basic things, so you may not know the hidden tips in Apex that only through hours of experience will find out.
HOW TO MOVE FASTER
Like other battle royale games, speed is very important in Apex Legends.
Respawn has confirmed that every character in the game – including Gibraltar – has the same walking and running speeds (not counting the acceleration moves of some Legends). All in all, the key lies in moving as fast as possible, but how to gain an advantage?
First: If you have something in your hand, you can’t run the fastest.
According to the Apex Legends movement speed test video from YouTuber T_status, each Legend sprints at 7.4m per second when unequipped. But when holding a weapon – any weapon, the movement speed drops to 6.5 m/s, which is 12% slower. It doesn’t matter what gun you hold: Green also reduces your movement speed as much as when holding a sniper, as long as you don’t aim. Movement speed when holding weapons equally, if you don’t aim (When you aim, each weapon affects movement speed differently, according to this video by T_status).
If you’re looking for loot, make sure you’re looking for guns. But if you’re in a hurry – like running to a teammate in need, escaping a critical situation, or running around in circles – you’ll want to put the gun away. To put the gun, you press the 3 key on the computer keyboard (triangle on PS4, Y on Xbox One).
However, sprinting is not the fastest way in Apex Legends – sliding is the trademark of the game. To slide, run and then press sit (Ctrl on PC, O on PS4, B on Xbox One).
Running fast and then sliding on flat terrain will increase speed, especially when you jump up at the end of the slide. But if you’re moving down the hill, there’s no reason not to slip. In the video mentioned above, the unarmed player slid down the hill at a speed of 11.9 meters per second – nearly 61% faster than running at top speed. Whether holding a weapon or aiming, the sliding speed is still 11.3 meters per second, 50% faster than running.
This is a compilation of pro tips. In Apex Legends, a character’s health and armor do not regenerate automatically; you must use healing items like Syringe and Shield Cell. Each healing item takes a few seconds to use, and you’re completely exposed during that time – trying to run while it’s healing will cancel the process. However, you can use the uniform while gliding, without affecting speed.
HOW TO RESPOND IN APEX LEGENDS
Learning how to navigate the air is equally important, as the position you land partly determines your success in the game. The drop in the game is very random, even in areas with good loot, but the first question when entering the game will definitely be “where do we land?”
It is very easy to drop the dropship in the area near the dropship. But if you want to move to more remote locations, you need to understand some basics of physics.
It seems that the best way to fly further when taking on the position of Jumpmaster – also the third person to choose a character in his squad – is to fly straight ahead. But if you notice the left and right bars that appear on the screen while flying down, then you will realize that things are not so simple.
The left bar measures the team’s airspeed, while the right bar measures altitude. Unlike Respawn’s Titanfall series, characters in Apex Legends don’t equip jump jets to jump twice – but they do get jetpacks to land. As a Jumpmaster, you should lean forward for maximum acceleration.
But if you only aim forward, you will soon lose speed and land at the maximum distance of 750 meters from the starting position. So how do we keep the speed to fly further? Here are instructions for jumping from the plane:
- Fly straight, but pay attention to the airspeed bar (left). When it fell less than 130, dive to speed up. (The team moves in the direction the camera is aiming for: to dive, move the camera to the ground). Note, you only need to dive for a second or two to regain speed, and then you don’t need to dive anymore if you want to fly as far as possible.
- When the speed is reached over 140, you can fly straight back. You will hold this speed for a few more seconds before slowing down again. From here, repeat step 1 to get to where you want to land. If you’ve played through the Batman Arkham series, it works similarly to how Batman flies in the game.
- Avoid flying too close to structures or obstacles like mountains – they can trigger a landing effect, because the game assumes you’re almost touching the ground.
- When flying, use the feature free-look, or ask teammates to help (right click on PC, hold L2/LT on PS4/Xbox One), so you can watch out for teams flying in the same direction. If you like to fight right away, there’s nothing to be afraid of. But if you want to avoid a collision in the first place, change direction and move to a quieter location.
- Finally, after reaching the final destination, the three should separate before landing (Ctrl on PC, square on PS4, X on Xbox One). Going together is a smart choice once everyone has some weapons to themselves, but there’s no point in fighting over weapons early in the game.
Because good loot is hard to find, and your survivability in a crowded area depends on whether or not you pick up a gun before your enemies, speed plays a big part in landing. Pick a landing spot as quickly as possible, and set off. A lot of people think that waiting for the dropship to get closest to their destination will come first, but usually you’ll get there first if you start earlier – as long as you keep your speed at 130-140. (Note, the maximum distance when using this method is 1,300-1,400 meters. Ping your destination and head to Ping to see how far you are).
TIPS ABOUT GAMEPLAY, CHARACTERS AND ITEM
There are tons of community-contributed little tricks on Twitter and Reddit.
- The door can be blocked by other players, the Caustic’s deathbox and gas trap. But luckily you can unblock the door with grenades and melee attacks
- You can destroy Caustic’s gas trap without having to activate it: Shoot at the bottom of the trap (the red part under the black gas tank).
- You probably already know that Legend can climb over low obstacles when pressing the jump button. But you can also reach higher places, seemingly beyond your reach. Hold the jump button and you can climb higher (it helps you to put your weapons in). Also, if you can climb the wall, you can hang on to the wall and glance up without having to climb over.
- How to use sniper scope: Apex Legends is a game with a bullet drop effect (the bullet is pulled down by the earth’s gravity when flying far), so if you want to hit distant objects, you need to focus higher. The numbers next to the aiming lines on the barrel equate to intervals (hundreds of meters: 1 is 100 meters, 2 is 200 meters, etc.). As you aim, you’ll see the actual distance between you and whatever you’re aiming for. You can combine these two parameters to accurately shoot distant subjects: If the enemy is 190 meters away from you, aim the opponent at the 2nd line on the muzzle, which is the 2nd line at the enemy’s head. (follow YouTuber jackfrags which explains this firing mechanism).
- There are two types of crates dropped from the sky in Apex Legends. You can use Lifeline’s ultimate to call Care Package, always includes three defensive items (such as armor, Shield Battery). And sometimes during the game, the game will drop a Supply Drop. Supply Drops land more slowly, and have a better chance of picking up good gear. The game now features two Legendary weapons – Kraber .50-caliber sniper rifle and Mastiff shotgun – and they are only available in Supply Drop. (You won’t find ammo for these two guns on the map; what you get from Supply Drop is what ammo each gun has). While these two boxes look the same, they have different colors at the top: the Care Package is blue, and the Supply Drop is red.
- About Lifeline: If anyone on the team picks it up Ultimate Accelerant, let Lifeline use it. Calling down the Care Package can be risky – as it can be seen from a distance – but Ultimate Accelerant helps Lifeline use her ultimate as much as possible, as defensive gear is always useful. (Note: Ultimate Accelerant needs to open the inventory, left click on it to use).
- In addition to weapons and equipment (attachment), we have four types of Legendary (gold) for four equipment. They are not stronger than the Epic (purple), but each has a special passive. Legendary Helmet (hat) Reduces cooldowns for your tactical and ultimate skills. Legendary Body Shield(armor) has a less useful passive: If you use the finisher, you’ll restore full armor. While, Legendary Knockdown Shield allows you to revive yourself (when you have fallen). And Legendary Backpack Reduces the usage time of healing items by half.
- Apex Legends gives a lot of information through sound and display during combat. For example, damage dealt to enemies is highlighted by color. Shooting someone in the head will show yellow number. Damage to people displays in four colors, depending on the type of armor the opponent wears: purple for Legendary or Epic Body Shield (adds up to 100 HP), blue for Rare Body Shield (up to 75 additional HP), white for Common Body Shield (up to 50 additional HP) and red if not wearing any armor. You’ll know when you’ve shot through your opponent’s armor with the crackling sound – take that as a signal to rush towards the enemy and finish them off.
- When knocked down in Apex Legends there is nothing special. The only things you can’t do right now are attack, heal teammates, and run. You still can crawl around and use the door as well as using the Wraith portal. Turning on Knockdown Shield will help you survive a bit more if you are shot by an enemy. More importantly, you can still use Ping during this phase. If you fall but you are not dead, continue Ping Enemy position to help teammates!
