Apex Legends: Ranking the power of the weapons in the game

Apex Legends is a team-oriented battle royale game, and each class in the game has unique interactions and coordination. Unlike Fortnite or PUBG, the class you choose will play an important role in the game’s victory – however, your weapons and equipment are equally important.

Therefore, you need to know the information about weapons to know which gun to hold or when to change guns. We’re still in the early stages of the game so changes are bound to happen with the guns. Below is a ranking of guns from strongest to weakest currently.

Tier 1

• Kraber (sniper)
• Mastiff (shotgun)

If you pick up one of these guns, your kill count will definitely increase. Kraber can knock out opponents with a single bullet, whether they are full of health and armor or not. Combined with the extremely long range, Kraber deals 125 damage to the body, and 250 to the head, making it easy to take down the enemy.

The Mastiff is a gun that’s also hard to pick up, due to its Legendary title – but if you’re lucky enough to get it, you’ll surely be pleased. This is a semi-automatic shotgun that is most effective at close range, but can also be fired at medium range. Like Kraber, Mastiff’s damage is formidable, dealing 144 damage to the body and 288 to the head. Take advantage of the narrow corners and corridors to promote the power of Mastiff.

Tier 2

• Peacekeeper (shotgun)
• Spitfire (light machine gun)
• Triple Take (sniper)
• Wingman (pistol)
• G7 Scout (sniper)
• R-301 (assault rifle)

All of these weapons have their own power and can be put to good use if used correctly. Most of them have quite high damage and are flexible at different ranges.

Two sniper rifles, Triple Take and G7 Scout can engage in long-range combat. Triple Take is the only sniper rifle in the game, firing 3 rounds, each lane deals quite high damage. It can be used to kill remote objects easily.

G7 Scout is weaker in damage, but has more magazine. If your shooting ability is not good, the Scout is probably more suitable, allowing continuous firing of bullets. If you miss one, there are still 9 pills left to test.

Shotgun Peacekeeper is commonly used. This loaded gun deals 110 damage to the body and 165 to the head, with a 6-round magazine. It can surprise the enemy, if attacked from behind, combined with the firepower of teammates fired from a distance.

The Spitfire isn’t the fastest light machine gun and also has a long reload time, but its accuracy and damage are decent at mid-range, plus its large magazine. If you are standing outside the battle phase of the two sides and are holding a Spitfire, be ready to eat.

The R-301 Carbine is considered the weakest assault rifle of the three, but it’s fully automatic and has a sizable magazine, allowing you to fire at enemies at close-to-medium range. It’s accurate, and unlike Hemlock, it’s useful when you’re suddenly encountering an opponent.

Wingman is considered the most powerful pistol in the game. The pistol fires one by one using Heavy Ammo bullets and deals high damage. If you shoot well, you can easily headshot the enemy to deal 90 damage.

Tier 3

• Devolution (light machine gun)
• Flatline (assault rifle)
• Hemlok (assault rifle)
• Longbow (sniper)
• R-99 (submachine gun)

The Longbow is another powerful sniper rifle. Similar to G7 Scout, but easier to use. It deals high damage, has a long range, and is semi-automatic, but the magazine only has 5 rounds.

It is very difficult to classify the three assault rifles. They are all strong in their own way and have different playstyles. The Hemlok has the highest damage potential of the three, but it’s a burst – fires three bullets at once. It is very effective at long range, but should not be used in close combat. You will probably have to use the secondary gun because Hemlok is very difficult to shoot if confronted directly at close range. It is very difficult to shoot and you will soon fall, due to not taking advantage of the full damage of the gun.

The Flatline is another equally powerful rifle. Actually, all rifles are strong, but it is only suitable for mid-range. Flatline is located between Hemlok and R-301. It depends on your playstyle to choose the right assault rifle. Same damage and magazine as R-301.

The R-99 submachine gun is also powerful, but sometimes requires a lot of luck and precision. It does good damage, but the magazine is quite low. You are forced to hit each bullet to defeat the opponent. Obviously the reload option is still available, but this is not a gun worth using, especially in a 3v3 situation. You will usually die after firing the first magazine, if you can’t find a reasonable hiding place.

Devolution light machine gun can be very powerful. The gun fires very slowly at first, and getting into a melee situation will make it difficult for you. But if you pass the first stage, Devolution will deal extremely high damage at a fast fire rate.

Tier 4

• Alternator (submachine gun)
• EVA-8 Auto (shotgun)
• Mozambican (shotgun)
• Prowler (submachine gun)
• P2020 (pistol)
• RE-45 (pistol)

While these guns are at the bottom of the rankings, that doesn’t mean they’re useless. These guns can still be used, but will most likely be outdone by guns of a higher rank.

EVA-8 Auto has the lowest damage among shotguns, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. EVA-8 Auto has a stable magazine and the ability to fire continuously. If facing the enemy directly, EVA-8 Auto can be very dangerous.

The Mozambique is a rather strange shotgun – it’s basically a green and a shogun combined. The magazine only has 3 rounds and the damage is also low. You have to get close enough to deal high damage.

The Alternator submachine gun is an effective gun at semi-close range – but not as powerful at mid or long range. It doesn’t have a lot of ammo and the recoil is unstable. You will definitely have to pray when using Alternator in Apex Legends.

Prowler is a pretty good overall aperture. It has the ability to shoot long distances, combined with a 20-round magazine and a fast rate of fire. But it does not have high damage, only dealing 14 damage per bullet to the body and 21 damage to the head. You have to use all the bullets to kill the enemy.

P2020 is the medium pistol. The magazine has 10 rounds and the damage is quite low. This is considered a good secondary gun in some cases, and is only used in the early stages of the game.

Similar to P2020, the RE-45 pistol is also not very groundbreaking, can only be used in the early game, allowing you to kill before you get a better gun. Its magazine is a bit more than the P2020 and is fully automatic, allowing to discharge the ice on the opponent.
