Apex Legends: 6 tips to help you shoot sniper accurately at close range

Like any other multiplayer shooter game, sniper is not easy in Apex Legends. That’s why a lot of gamers shy away from long-range guns.

Things are more difficult when the opponent is close, but once tamed, the sniper will be very useful to increase the number of lives and damage you have in each match.

In a way, sniper rifles can be seen as a shotgun: that is, if you hit it at close or mid-range, you will deal a lot of damage, and can even kill your opponent instantly.

Meanwhile, long-range sniper shooting is still a must-have skill, but usually doesn’t help you get kills, because the opponent can heal or revive them if they fall.

Find the perfect sensitivity

To really improve accuracy when shooting close range snipers, you have to increase mouse sensitivity, because this skill requires fast mouse movement speed.

The Gaming Merchant currently uses 6.0 sensitivity for the mouse, and if using a controller, you should set the look sensitivity higher, while reducing the Response Curve.

Of course, this isn’t a 100% accurate answer, but it’s a good way to find your perfect sensitivity. Play around with your game configurations and try them out in the Firing Range.

Don’t hold the aim for too long

You should not leave aiming mode for too long is what this YouTuber recommends.

Zoom in and drag the mouse along

As The Gaming Merchant mentioned in the video, there’s no way to make your sniper shoot 100% stable, whether close or far, if you don’t create a habit of shooting.

To properly shoot close shots, you should always zoom in, flick quickly or drag the mouse over the object, and then press shoot. The idea here is to give you a small enough space to keep your focus on your opponent. With enough practice, it will be imprinted in the Muscle Memory (ie knowing how far to drag the mouse at a distance so that the mind shoots at the opponent).

Remember, this is not a mouse flick grand towards the object and shoot. Flick here means adjusting your mind so that the focus is always on the enemy. You should not shoot until you have had a chance to get the focus right, to avoid wasting your precious time.

Use the best scope

This is easy to do when you’re using close-range sights because they don’t take much time with ADS and zoom compared to long-range scopes.

Remember, there are several types of “multi-centred” targeting. For example, there are 2x-4x and 4x-8x types. In that case, you should choose 2x-4x more.

Using 4x of 2x-4x is similar to zoom of 4x-8x, but ADS speed will be significantly faster.

Use another weapon

Once you hit the ranged sniper shot, the next thing to do is change to another weapon to finish the job.

As mentioned above, close range sniper shots, similar to those hit with a shotgun, deal massive amounts of damage. The opponent will not have much health left, and you should finish him off with another gun before he has a chance to heal.
