NVIDIA’s promise to protect gamers from coin players seems far away.

However, speaking in advance does not pass. A few days ago, NVIDIA suddenly… accidentally released a beta driver, making the RTX 3060 unlocked again with full mining performance. This is considered a fatal mistake, because this “key” has been posted online and given to coin players to freely download from many sources. But that’s not all.

Recently, virtual currency farmers have discovered an extremely smart and effective solution to quickly solve the problem created by NVIDIA. Especially, it only costs less than 6 USD (150 thousand VND) for the RTX 3060 to be surpassed.

The NVIDIA beta driver isn’t very smart, it just detects if the output port is connected. In fact, it can’t tell if what’s connected to the card is a real monitor or not.

Therefore, miners only need to buy an HDMI dummy plug (the cheapest price is about 5.99 USD on Amazon) is enough to fool the NVIDIA driver. Makes it think the card is connected to the monitor, but in fact it isn’t.

A member on the page Quasar Zone recently proved this solution to work for 4 card configuration RTX 3060 (4-way).

Each card has a hashrate of about 48 MH/s, and all four cards are 192 MH/s. The remaining components do not need to be too fancy. The problem here is that the beta driver requires the card to be connected to the motherboard via a minimum of PCIe 3.0 x8 interface. This means that the PCIe x1 risers you often see in mining rigs are useless.

Therefore, if you want to apply this method, you have to find a motherboard with a bit of excess PCIe x16/x8 slots, but a few specialized mining motherboards equipped with a bunch of PCIe x1 slots will lose.
