According to John Romerothe speedrunner of the game Doom (speedrunner is the type of gamer that ‘races’ to finish the game as quickly as possible) Zero Master has finally discovered the ‘super secret’ in Doom 2: an inaccessible area of the map Industrial Zone was designed by Romero himself… You can see the moment Zero Master discovered this secret around 3:04 in the video, but it’s best to watch from 2:30 to get a better understanding.
This secret has theoretically been discovered for a while, but Zero Master is the first to penetrate the area without using any cheats/hacks. As Zero Master explains on YouTube, “this secret is only activated if the center of Doomguy is in the secret area and if its height is the same as the height of the secret area.” But as Romero explained on Twitter, you can’t enter this secret if you tap it normally, “so you’ll never get into the teleporter area to activate this secret.” As a result, according to the Doom wiki about the Industrial Zone, this secret is completely untraceable. “therefore, the maximum number of secrets a player can obtain in this map is 90%.”
Zero Master found another way by luring a Pain Elemental and using the knockback from its attack to push him into the secret area. “This pushes the character to the lowest floor on which the door is moving, thereby bringing you into the secret area and at the same height, thus activating the secret,” Zero Master said.
Secret explained: A secret teleporter is marked as a discoverable “secret”, but when you touch it, you never enter the sector. So you would never get inside the teleporter sector to trigger the secret. The only way to trigger this secret is to be pushed by an enemy into it! #doom

Doom’s Wiki page for this map was updated after Zero Master figured out how to get to this secret area. The Wiki page now says: “While how it works is currently not completely understood (possibly due to jerks over curbs or elevators), the resulting stall will temporarily push the coordinates. the player’s z-degree to a lower position directly below the player, causing this secret to be found.”
In other words, after 24 years, speedrunner Doom 2 can now complete the game 100% without having to rely on hacks/cheats.
