Will the new Assassin’s Creed game be set in Japan?

According to rumors that are making waves on the 4chan forum recently, the next installment of Assassin’s Creed will be set in Japan during the Edo period. The game will launch at the end of 2022 on PS5, Xbox Series X / S and PC platforms.

This new version is temporarily named Assassin’s Creed Warriors, in the game players will play the role of Akako Shiratori – one of the rare female members of the assassin society in Japan. The events of the game will take place mainly in Tokyo during the Edo period (1603 – 1868), a period marked by the domination of the shogunate. According to this rumor, Assassin’s Creed Warriors will be heavily influenced by Japanese mythology, players can even fight with Oni or Yokai – famous youkai in Japanese folklore.
