PUBG blocks family sharing to reduce hacking

Since the official launch of PUBG late last year, PUBG Corp has been continuously looking for ways to improve the game’s performance and handle hacking. With the desire to prevent the problem of rampant hacking, a preliminary version of the “new anti-hacking solution” was revealed last week and will be officially released on the server next week. New information from the manufacturer tells us the contents of this new solution.

From a post on Steam Community by Dohyung Lee, head of service management and hacking prevention: “This solution will complement an already developed system. Right now it is mainly focused on blocking strange software, but it will be developed to further expand its capabilities in the future.

This way, software that supports editing the game’s graphics (like ReShade) or “makes the game somehow easier” will be blocked. The same goes for software that behaves like hack software, even if they don’t give the user an unfair advantage.

On the PUBG subreddit, there are a lot of disgruntled players killed by hack users.

In terms of hacking, PUBG Corp. has locked accounts of more than 1.5 million hacked players since Early Access started last year – and there was even a time when PUBG Corp locked up to 100,000 accounts in a single wave.

This latest update indicates that the reporting feature in the game is about to be upgraded, and Steam’s family sharing feature will be disabled.

Lee said on the matter:

We’ve enabled this feature so PUBG account holders can share their characters with other Steam accounts if they so wish. However, we have decided to disable this feature as we have discovered several loopholes that are being exploited.
