PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is constantly upgrading the game to improve the player experience. One feature that fans have been waiting for months is the ability to choose the map themselves. The good news is that now, PUBG Corp is ready to add that feature to the game. Currently, map selection is being tested on the test server and is expected to be released on the official server soon.
The decision to add map selection in PUBG was requested after many people complained about the Miramar desert map. A lot of fans hate Miramar when compared to Erangel, the original PUBG map, and want an option to avoid it. The new map select feature will allow them to do just that. Players can choose any map they want.
However, PUBG Corp. is concerned that it will adversely affect the game because this feature may divide the community. Therefore, the PUBG team will continue to monitor this new map selection feature.
One of the upcoming obstacles to map selection in PUBG is that as more new maps appear in the future, it could further divide the community. We are told at least one map is in development, which is Savage. And if Savage does resonate, it will reduce the frequency of players on the Erangel and Miramar maps.
Talking about Miramar, quite a lot of fans hate this map, which can lead to the Miramar map’s player count dropping to a minimum. The Miramar desert map has been heavily criticized since its release on the PC version late last year, to the point that some people have tried to remove the map by editing the game system files.
Therefore, this new feature is welcomed by the majority of players, but PUBG Corp has its own reason for concern. If there is a bad effect on the PUBG community as well as the game, surely PUBG Corp can remove this feature or adjust it in the future.
