What is the “Trust factor” in CS:GO?
On November 13, 2017, Valve introduced to players a new system for ranked matches with the aim of improving matchmaking by months and different from the widely used system of Prime.
“Trust factor” is simply a complex system that uses various sources of information to improve the in-game experience of honest and dedicated players.
So how does it work?
When you create a lobby or you are already a lobby owner in ranked or wingman mode, look in the bottom corner of the screen (you can see Prime Matchmaking before the update). You will see “Use Trust Factor Matchmaking to find matches”. It’s automatically selected for you, so you won’t have to manually choose it. If you want to use Prime more, just click on the text and you will use Prime to find battles.
How Trust Factor Calculates
This is the tricky part because Valve doesn’t reveal all the factors that determine your Trust factor level, but they do give us a few pointers.
- How many times have you been reported for using the hack? Maybe getting reported for breaking the game also has an impact.
- Time you play CS:GO
- Time you play other games
The trust factor scale used to find matches is the lowest trust factor scale in the lobby. So if you’re playing with someone who’s been frequently reported in the past or has a bad status in the Steam community, he’ll have a low trust factor score and it’s used to find matches.
This does not mean that your score will drop, just that when you are in the lobby with people with low scores, your score will be equal to them, and when you exit the lobby, your score will be lower. return to the way it was.
A few guesses about other factors that affect your score:
These are the factors not mentioned by Valve may affect your score
- Your number of banned turns (VAC ban, trade ban, game ban…). Since Valve uses your playtime in other games for scoring, they’ll probably use bans as well.
- The age of your Steam account.
- Cooldown time
- Number of times you got kicked or kicked someone
- The amount of damage you deal to teammates
Update
Nearly 5 months after the update, a Valve employee John McDonald has verified that Trust Factor is used in both Prime and the Trust Factor lobby.
Questions about Trust Factor
Q: What factors are used to score in the Trust Factor system?
A: We do not provide a list of the factors used in the Trust Factor for several reasons. We don’t want players to worry about any action when they play CS:GO or other games on Steam. Furthermore, because we keep our Trust Factor system up to date, all of these lists will quickly become out of date. Anyway, we look at your CS:GO and Steam experience, to make sure the system works correctly.
Q: Can I see my Trust Factor score?
A: We do not plan to publish Trust Factor scores – the purpose is to improve your experience without worrying anyone about anything. In fact, in most cases your Trust Factor score won’t be of any use – we’ll try to match you up with players like you, but like player skill, the number of players on the server will depend on your time, your region, the maps you want to play, etc
Q: What can I do to improve my score?
A: All you have to do is become an active player in the CS:GO community as well as on Steam. We’re still updating Trust Factor day by day and tweaking different factors, but we want all you have to do is improve your experience and keep playing CS:GO and other games. on Steam honestly. The more you play, the more information the system will have and the easier it will be to decide who you will be matched with.
Q: I used to subscribe to Prime. Will it increase my Trust Factor score?
A: Yes! Phone number and CS:GO rank are two factors that affect Trust Factor score. If you previously had a Prime subscription, Trust Factor will benefit from your phone number and in-game experience. If you haven’t added your phone number to your CS:GO account yet, you should do so now as it will improve your experience.
Q: I am a new player, will I have a low Trust Factor score?
A: Not necessarily. Your Trust Factor score is influenced by both Steam and CS:GO, so if you’re an active member of the Steam community, you’ll start CS:GO with a high score.
Q: How do I know if this system will be better than the previous one?
A: From player feedback, we evaluated Prime by comparing how players interact with each other. Objectively, we can say Prime was successful when players didn’t exit the game and there were fewer reports/kicks. We intend to use the same criteria to evaluate the Trust Factor system.
