CSGO: Shox returns to lead G2; NBK-, apEX was eliminated from the team

G2 has announced its upcoming lineups ahead of the ECS Season 5 Finals, with shox returning to be the team leader.

The 26-year-old returned to G2 after leaving the regular roster in March for wrist surgery. During that time, former OpTic member mixwell replaced him.

shox will reunite his former teammate SmithZz, who left his position as G2 coach to return to the pro scene.

NBK-, shox’s current IGL player, and apEX have both been dropped from the team. G2 says it is open to offers from third parties for the couple.

Completing the G2 roster at the ECS Finals will be former LDLC member, Ex6TenZ. He will be the stand-in and captain of the team at the event in London. The Belgian was in the first G2 team in the second round before giving way to “bodyy”.

G2 decided to redo the roster after the unsatisfactory results since they changed IGL. In the absence of shox, the team only ranked 13-16 at DreamHack Masters Marseille and 7-8 at IEM Sydney, falling out of the top 10 of the world rankings for the first time after more than a year in charge.

According to the latest information from Flickshot.fr, shox initially planned to keep NBK- on the team, but in the end he chose bodyy because some members said they didn’t want to play with NBK-.

In G2’s announcement, coach NiaK stressed these changes are just a “new step forward” for the team, with the final decision to be made before ESL One Cologne.

“The new roster, with the return of shox and SmithZz and Ex6TenZ as stand-ins and captains in this tournament, marks a new step in our decision-making process and I am excited. to start working with people in London this weekend,” Niak added

In the meantime, apEX and NBK have been benched and I would like to thank them for their efforts and contributions over the past few months.

“I wanted to take this opportunity to point out the professionalism in all of the team’s players since the process started when decisions were made with everyone’s approval.”

G2 was placed in Group B at the ECS Season 5 Finals, along with NRG, FaZe and Luminosity. Their first match will be against StarSeries i-League Season 5 runner-up NRG.
