MIBR just announced they have acquired Epictacio “TACO” de Melo and Wilton “zews” Prado from Liquid, and Jake “Stewie2K” Yip will be switching to the North American organization.
TACO and zews will reunite with former SK and Luminosity members Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, Fernando “fer” Alvarenga, and Marcelo “coldzera” David – who played with the player from late 2015 to early 2018, and coach zews from late 2016 to mid-2016.
In the opposite direction, Stewie2K, transferred from Cloud9 to SK to replace TACO in March, before joining the organization MIBR with the rest of the members.
In nearly 9 months with the team, Stewie2K hasn’t been able to reach the level of influence he used to at Cloud9.
Meanwhile, the team also did not have good results like in 2016 and 2018. MIBR only won three minor events with unremarkable results in 2018. The team is outside the top 3 in the world rankings.
“I am disappointed to see this journey come to an end because I feel the team did not have enough time to reach its potential. We have some hurdles to overcome. This is an obvious backlog in an international squad, each individual needing more time to figure out the position, the harmony and the feeling.” Stewie2K said in Twitlonger.
“However, it seems that we are not strong enough to overcome the psychological test. Even with a month of confidence and some convincing results, we still had problems. I believe these guys have the mindset of a champion but they’ve won too much to remember what it feels like to lose. Wish the team had more time after the end of the year with positive results and fix the internal problems instead of hiding from it. I understand what I was involved in and will move on without reproach.”
Felps will replace tarik
While this announcement makes no mention of the future of Tarik “tarik” Celik, it is expected that he will also not be in the 201 squad. João “felps” Vasconcellos, who played with the SK trio for most of 2017, won five international tournaments with them, is currently the best candidate to replace tarik.
We haven’t heard anything about the future of Janko “YNk” Paunovíc, the team’s coach for almost five months – originally set to last until the end of the FACEIT Major.
MIBR’s current lineup is as follows:
Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo
Fernando “fer” Alvarenga
Marcelo “coldzera” David
Epitacio “TACO” de Melo
Tarik “tarik” Celik
Wilton “zews” Prado (coach)
Meanwhile, the runner-up of the six major events and the champion cs_summit 2, SuperNova CS:GO Malta in 2018 – Liquid will have the following lineup:
Nick “nitr0” Cannella
Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski
Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken
Keith “NAF” Markovic
Jake “Stewie2K” Yip
