Heroic becomes DreamHack Open Atlanta champion after beating Sprout 2-0 (Train 16-9, Inferno 16-10) with a great performance from Casper “cadiaN” Møller.
In the semi-finals, Sprout surpassed CR4ZY and Heroic beat Virtus.pro in a series that lasted only 2 maps. The two teams faced off in the finals for the top prize of $50,000.
Surpassing expectations at the tournament, Sprout had a stable start on the Train map of the finals, leading 3-0 on the T side. The Danish team counterattacked to equalize and the two sides then struggled back and forth. Heroic eventually took the lead with a score of 9-6.
Sprout quickly equalized at the beginning of the second pistol round. Unfortunately, their results did not bring the expected results: Heroic on T side won 7 consecutive rounds to end the map 16-9.
On the map Inferno, Snappi’s army got themselves 3 rounds before Sprout countered. The two sides struggled back and forth to protect their weapons, with Sprout winning the economic advantage in the 10th round. But by the end of the half, Heroic came back successfully, winning 3 consecutive rounds to temporarily lead 8-7. .
CadiaN scored a 4 in the second pistol round, giving the Danes the lead again. Since then, Heroic has lost only 3 rounds, winning the aggregate 16-10, with a score of 2-0 in the final.
