Adroit, another Southeast Asian Dota 2 organization, continues to withdraw.
Team Adroit announced it was shutting down after a year and a half. Disband the entire Dota 2 squad and let the organization staff quit. The latest information has just been posted on Facebook.
Adroit’s disband lineup is as follows:
- Justine Ryan Evangelista “Tino” Grimaldo
- Mc Nicholson “Mac” Villanueva
- Nikko “Nikko” Bilocura
- Marvin “Boombacs” Rushton
- Bryle “cml” Alviso
Adroit’s withdrawal wasn’t too surprising after the blood change
Had COVID-19 not happened, Team Adroit would have been in the top Dota 2 in 2020. Competing in Southeast Asia, Adroit surprised fans by winning the right to two major Dota Pro Circuit, including ESL One Los The Angeles Major tournament saw Adroit’s unconventional victory over TNC Predator, a supposedly superior opponent. Dota 2’s move to online competition kept the team alive, but the decision to change blood in the summer brought the team down.
It’s not yet certain if the poor results caused Adroit to disband, as even successful teams are facing difficulties.
A good example in Southeast Asia is Geek Farm. This star roster established itself as one of the strongest in the region, but was completely disbanded in September.
Also this year, Chaos Esports Club disbanded the entire Dota 2 squad due to difficulties in organizing tournaments. The roster reverted to the original Quincy Crew name and became one of the strongest teams in the world despite no sponsorship from the old organization. The list of organizations that have released Dota 2 in recent months includes Furia Esports, ForZe, Keen Gaming and Cloud9.
It is not clear if Adroit’s old squad will continue to play together or if they will go their separate ways to find new opportunities.
