The Monster Hunter series is no stranger to collaborating with other games. Previously, they added characters from Sonic and The Legend of Zelda. It looks like Monster Hunter World will continue this tradition, as Capcom announced Ryu and Sakura from the popular fighting game Street Fighter are also appearing in the monster hunt. We’ll see Ryu unleash his Hadoken before switching to a machine gun that might be completely contrary to the plot in Street Fighter, but it won’t affect the game much either.
But gamers who want to collect free armor need to complete the related quests first. Those who own the save data of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition on PS4 will get their first chance in the coming weeks. The quest “Down the Dark, Muddy Path” will appear, and those who complete it will receive SFV Tickets. With those items and some necessary materials, you will be able to create Ryu armor. For Xbox One and PS4 gamers who do not have Street Fighter V’s save data, they can accept the quest at a later time. Sakura armor will also appear later.
You can check out the current trailer for Ryu and Sakura in Monster Hunter World:
If the character Ryu holding the dragon-shooting machine gun isn’t satisfying enough, you can purchase the character’s Hadoken and Shoryuken for $3.99 each. Players will also unlock Street Fighter-related guild cards and stamps, with some achievements/medals also included in the update. It should be noted that Ryu and Sakura’s armor is one-piece, meaning players cannot combine items like Ryu’s gloves with traditional armor.
Notably, Monster Hunter was also present in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition days ago, before Ryu and Sakura were announced in the game Monster Hunter World. In Street Fighter, Monster Hunter has costumes for Ken (Rathalos), R. Mike (Zinogre), and Ibuki (Kirin). These skins will be available in the following months and force the player to pursue 4-weeks in a row in each custom change to unlock each skin.
Monster Hunter World is out now on PS4 and Xbox One. The PC version is expected to be released at the end of 2018.
