The stealth horror game Hello Neighbor will get a prequel about Neighbor’s emotional past

The publisher of the stealthy horror game Hello Neighbor Tiny Bull has just announced that the game will have a Prequel part.

“Hello Neightbor: Hide and Seek” tells a story about a creepy neighbor and his family. Specifically, this part will focus on his two children.

“Hello Neighbor: Hide & Seek will tell the story of the Neighbor family before the first Hello Neighbor,” Tinybuild said in a statement on its website. “Experience playing a ‘hide and seek’ game with my brother as they both have to deal with the loss of a family member. The game explains the events leading up to the beginning of Hello Neighbor.”

The announcement also gives us a surprisingly emotional trailer, showing the crumbling relationship between Neighbor and her children, and between the children.

How this prequel plays is currently unknown. The trailer shows the in-game environment more widely, which helps us somewhat predict that it will be a more expansion, not just a hide and seek in Neighbor’s house. With a more central plot, it might be a little different from the horror and stealth elements in the first part.

Although the first part is quite attractive, the game still has many bugs. But the game still sold half a million copies in February of this year. Hello Neighbor also has an active modding community, currently ranked 24th in the most popular games on ModDB (which is an impressive stat since the game is less than a year old).

Hide and Seek doesn’t have a release date yet, but you can download the Alpha version for free through the Hello Neighbor website.
