Muzyka credits the studio’s success to quality employees who “have fun at work.”
“It’s always been something I think we’ve both felt – working around people who are smarter than us, passionate and creative, so you can learn and grow.” Muzuka said. “We always try to treat everyone we work with with great respect.”
Zeschuk and Muzyka leave BioWare, and the gaming industry, in 2012, five years after the studio Electronic Arts acquired the studio. However, the two remained in the Edmonton area: Zeschuk founded a bar in the city and was involved in many philanthropic activities, while Muzyka founded ThresholdImpact, which promotes “investment of long-term returns,” and belongs to Alberta Research and Innovation Advisory Committee.
“This honor is not limited to what we do at BioWare, but it’s also what we continue to do to make everything around us better,” said Zeschuk. “I think that’s what’s important, the way we work and the ideals around the business and how to build businesses and work with people, build people.”
The Order of Canada was established in 1967 to recognize “outstanding achievement, contribution to the community, and service to the country” in all areas of Canadian society.
