It looks like Valve will enter 2019 ready to declare war on cheaters on Steam. Accordingly, in the Steam 2018 Year In Review report posted this morning (January 15), Valve said that Steam Trust, the technology behind the Trusted Matchmaking system in Counter-Strike: Global Offensivewill be upgraded and included in all games available on Steam.
“This means you will have more information that you can use to help determine if a player is cheating.‘, Valve explained.
Speaking more about Steam Trust, it’s currently helping players CS:GO have the same Trust Score (votes of confidence) find each other in matches. The main purpose of this technology is to separate exemplary players from in-game cheaters.
With Valve committed to upgrading the Steam Trust, it is expected to make all games on Steam fair, competitive, and less likely to have bad play.
Trust Score is also significantly different from the Behavior Score – also known as the behavior score based on in-game parameters/reports – in Dota 2. In other words, all Steam accounts will receive a certain amount of Trust Score and over time, it will increase or decrease depending on the player’s behavior while playing the game.
“Trust Score is more related to your account, excerpt of Redditor sociobiology’s comment on related thread. “Therefore, an account that is five days old and plays no games other than Dota 2 will have a lower Trust Score than an eight year old account with 500 games (Dota 2).”
.’s Matchmaking System Dota 2 It has long been a matter of public concern. At the end of last week, Valve announced that reset and banned about 17,000 accounts was found to have abused ‘s Matchmaking system Dota 2 – mostly “the smurfs” and the account redeemer.
With its nature as a free-to-play game (average 450,000 concurrent players – according to SteamCharts), Steam Trust is Valve’s latest attempt to “calm down” the situation in Dota 2 in particular and all other games on Steam in general.
Steam currently has 90 million active accounts per month – according to statistics published by Valve. This is a huge number and it is a “shield” that helps Steam be able to cope with the PC gaming store storm that Epic Games and Discord are bringing to the market.
Valve also said that Steam now has 47 million daily active accounts and it also attracts customers to shell out 1.6 million new payments each month.
