Borderlands 3: Break down everything in the latest gameplay video

After first announcing the game at PAX East 2019, Gearbox finally shared Borderlands 3 gameplay before giving the game key to some Twitch streamers.

The live stream begins with an image that appears to be a screenshot of the game, but is actually the actual gameplay of the game. The developer then guides one of Borderlands’ early missions, assisted by the familiar Claptrap robot.

Players learn how to move around in the game, including the ability to slide and climb. The combat system in the game has always been quite fast, but the new movement mechanics in Borderlands 3 allow players to relax while encountering enemies. The character Amara has the ability to push opponents, not only to kill them, but also allow you to push poison containers to fly towards them.

We know the gun now has more different firing modes. Green can fire normal bullets or change to fire mini rockets. A new feature in gunfights is that cover can be destroyed, creating variety in combat. Players can also revive characters and vice versa.

You can upgrade skills and use items to change them. This allows players to create their own unique character even if friends also use Vault Hunter like me. The game also has a new environmental effect called radiation. Radioactive enemies will explode when they die, dealing damage to the surrounding area, but you will also have to be careful not to get hit.

Co-op is the main highlight in Borderlands 3. We see how the “split loot” mechanism works. Weapons and items are balanced for each player. If there are players who are far behind in level by their friends, they can still enjoy the game together without fear of missing out on good loot.

Higher level players’ damage is also balanced to match the low level in-game character Amara. Gearbox does mention a classic mode – most likely a co-op experience similar to the old Borderlands games.

Another new feature of the series is that players can visit other worlds of the game through Sanctuary. The character Amanra in the gameplay video moved to Promethea after selecting in the world map and the screen quickly switched to the ship scene.

With a focus on loot, gamers will surely be curious about the game’s microtransaction system. CEO Randy Pitchford said the game will have microtransactions, but only to purchase in-game decorations.
