Admire the gameplay of Project Resistance, Resident Evil's 4v1 project

Projest Resistance takes place in the world of Resident Evil, but for a reason it isn’t named entirely after the popular survival horror series. Project Resistance is a 4v1 multiplayer game, with a lot of elements taken from popular games like Dead by Daylight. Traditional survival horror fans won’t be pleased with the new direction, but Capcom producer Matt Walker says the company needs to branch out further – and the new title will remain faithful to its old soul.

“Obviously people want the quality experience that comes from Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 7,” Walker said Twitter. “In my opinion – as a company, we need to keep branching out and testing new gameplay to refine the experience people have come to expect from Capcom. If we just keep delivering the same thing over and over, people will gradually lose interest in what the team creates.”

“The most important thing,” says Walker, is “this is a survival horror experience, just not as traditional.”

The upcoming closed beta – console-only for the time being – will give players a chance to better understand the project. Walker continued that “everyone who has played it has had a positive response,” and the beta will be an opportunity for Capcom to refine the game further based on feedback from more players.

“Based on that feedback, Project Resistance was able to grow from a project into a great game.”

Resident Evil-themed multiplayer has been exploited for many years. Resident Evil Outbreak has a loyal fan base, while Umbrella Corps. Capcom’s has been a bombshell lately. Project Resistance will at least use Capcom’s RE Engine – this engine has been used in many of its big blockbusters over the years.
