Having to constantly create new content on YouTube for a whole year is extremely difficult, and that is probably why one of the most popular YouTubers in the world, PewDiePie decided to take a hiatus from 2020. Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg said he “felt very tired”.
In PewDiepie’s latest YouTube video, “Pew News,” he said, “I think now is a great time to let you know that I have a special announcement. I’m taking a hiatus from YouTube next year. I wanted to share first because I’ve thought about it – I’m tired. I feel very tired. I don’t know if people realize it.
“Let everyone know in advance, at the beginning of next year, I will take a short break,” he continued. “I’ll explain later, but I want everyone to know first.” The announcement was made at the end of the video as PewDiePie discussed YouTube’s new anti-harassment policy.
You can watch the video below (around 10:42).
PewDiePie is a 30-year-old content creator, with 102 million subscribers on YouTube, making him the most popular YouTuber on YouTube at the time of this writing.
This is perhaps not a completely unexpected announcement, even though the holiday is not long. Because before that (around the time he married Marzia Bisognin), he said he was considering taking a break. “It’s good that for the first time in 10 years, there’s no YouTube in my head,” he said.
PewDiePie did not share details about when he plans to take a break or how long it will last, other than “Early next year” and the break is quite short.
