40,000 accounts were dropped in Dota 2 because of a headache for many years

Official Twitter account of Dota 2 has just officially announced that 40,000 accounts have been directly removed for intentionally bypassing the game’s Matchmaking system. Two of the popular actions that led to the main game were “Smurf” and “Boost”, which have become familiar to the Dota 2 community ever since.

For those of you who don’t know, Smurf is the action where veteran players of the game create new accounts to “sell” newbie gamers. Meanwhile Boost is a newbie gamer hiring outsiders, of course with higher skills, to play their account… with one of the many purposes of being quickly ranked.

These two issues have become a pain point affecting the balance of Dota 2 in recent years. Yet, at the beginning of last year, Valve also processed 17,000 accounts for many of the same reasons. Some accounts even received a 19-year penalty.
