Fighting the problem of hacking in the game is the constant battle of the developer. In the past week alone, PUBG Corp has banned 116,561 accounts.
PUBG Hawkinz, one of the community managers confirmed the new statistic while responding to a Reddit post about the state of the game. Players are increasingly frustrated with battle royale games as hackers continue to increase. And PUBG does not keep in touch and the esports segment is “quite precarious”.
“In terms of the number of reports, we haven’t seen this many in quite a while,” said the community manager. “We understand the increased number of hackers you have to face and we know the serious impact it can have on your matches.”
“The team usually bans over 100k accounts per week. From the week of December 8-14, we permanently banned 116,531 accounts. Do we ban the hardware of that account? Yes, we use HWID boards.”
Hawkinz also confirmed that anti-hacking efforts have been added over the past few months to combat PUBG hackers. PUBG Corp also discussed the possibility of limiting ping to the server to prevent players from exploiting region lock.
The community manager talks about the game’s esports future, although he’s not involved in it. He said PUBG Corp is “doing its best for global events” and that people should expect something “big in 2020.”
However, Michael “Jobroni” Cerene, one of the only players to remain in Ghost Gaming – who left the PUBG esprots early last month – said the 2020 esports announcement would “close the curtain on what’s going on. ” Like other players, Jabroni is upset about the region’s pro leagues being cut, while skins aren’t enough and communication from PUBG Corp is almost nonexistent.
Finally, PUBG Corp has opened up to the community, there seems to be some difference in the perception of success between the community and the company.
